TITLE: The Death and Resurrection of the English Language
AUTHOR: Wordstrings
READER: FayJay
FANDOM: Sherlock
PAIRING: Sherlock/John
RATING: NC17
DURATION: 1 hour 40 mins or so
SUMMARY: Sherlock Holmes has recently grown aware that the problem must be one of language.

He and John Watson clearly speak different versions of English. Must do. It's the only logical explanation.

When Sherlock explores this hypothesis in retrospect, it becomes still more clear to him that a linguistic barrier must be the answer. He will test it just as soon as he can come up with an effective rubric. It accounts for so very many instances when the Doctor went shocked and blinking, cutting his sentences into little one-word clips, when what Sherlock had been saying was undoubtedly normal by anyone's standards...

Follows An Act of Charity and The Paradox Suite, although you don't have to have read them to make sense of this story.

TITLE: The Case of the Unwelcome Owl
AUTHOR: FayJay
FANDOM: Sherlock/Harry Potter crossover
GENRE: Gen
RATING: PG
WORDCOUNT: 7,600
SUMMARY: There was a medium-sized barn owl in the living room, perching on the back of the sofa. John stared at it blankly for a moment, and it stared blankly back, then corkscrewed its head around to stare at Sherlock. It didn't seem to be showing any immediate signs of being a ninja owl assassin working for an evil genius; on the other hand, John hadn't the faintest idea what on earth had led it to come and sit on furniture in the middle of 221B Baker Street.

Oh, God, I &hearts this story SO MUCH, I can't tell you - I mean, I'm always loath to say "this is my favourite such-and-such", but if it isn't my very favourite story in the fandom so far, it's easily in my top three. And I'm saying that as someone who really didn't much care for Gatiss's iteration of Mycroft Holmes - I'm afraid he's one of those actors who are too inextricably linked with previous, over-the-top pastichey kind of performances (wai halo there, League of Gentlemen), with the result that I never ever see them as the character, just the actor. So, you know - Mycroft was probably my least favourite character on the show.

But this story? Rocked my fucking socks. Dear heavens. Just GORGEOUS, and layered, and incisive, and troubling, and unexpectedly touching. Love. It.

TITLE: Let you kiss me (So sweet and so soft)
AUTHOR: Out_there
READER: FayJay
FANDOM: Sherlock (quelle surprise, eh?)
PAIRING: Sherlock/John
RATING: PG
DURATION: Just over an hour
SUMMARY: The first time Sherlock kisses him, John keeps his eyes open, and so does Sherlock, and mostly, he wonders what Sherlock could possibly be up to. There'll be some logic to this. Some ridiculous experiment about body warmth or respiratory rates or testing a new way of picking pockets. Sherlock does the unimaginable for bizarre reasons, but behind it, there's always logic and curiosity. Sometimes, it just takes him a while to explain it to John.

I do hope the lovely Cybel won't hold it against me, but I'm posting the links to the mp3 version of this already - I know she's offline for the moment, and so it's not yet uploaded to Jinjurly's archive or available in podbook format, but I thought I'd post it anyway.

"Fantastic day, wasn't it? I don't know that I can remember a better."

And no, it wasn't fantastic. Not really. Not exactly. Not what with the three dead transvestites, and the being locked in a makeshift gas chamber, and Lestrade's looking so horrified even for a hardened policeman.
