Summary: It’s the fall of 2000, and to help him out after his military career has ended due to injury, John Watson’s sister Harriet gets him a job as US tour manager for rising star of the industrial scene and enfant terrible, Sherlock Holmes. Sherlock’s not long out of rehab and there are plenty of doubts as to whether he’s serious about recovery. Plus, the music industry is shaking in its boots over the Napster mess. All John has to do is keep the money coming in and make sure his star doesn’t screw things up. After the army, that should be easy, right?

Author's Note: This particular chapter couldn't have gotten written without a TON of help from greywash and ardatli. Any mistakes are mine and not theirs. Also thanks to abundantlyqueer for soooo much military information and patience with my multitude of questions. And thanks to my anonymous music insider, you know who you are.

Chapter summary: There is something morbidly fascinating in contemplating his own grave, not in an abstract fashion but by visiting the actual spot. It is strangely freeing to be thought dead: There are no more expectations to disappoint, no more mistakes to make.

He is about to turn around and start the next leg of his journey when he sees two familiar figures approach the grave hand in hand. He quickly melts back into the uneven shadows of the hedge and watches as John and Lestrade come to a halt in front of the polished stone.

Title: How Can We Say Forever (6/6)
Author: [personal profile] queenfanfiction
Fandom: Sherlock BBC
Rating: PG-13
Warnings: Character death (not the one you'd think), some prisoner torture, and dark angsty angst. Also, a lot of run-on sentences. If you wage epic wars on grammar fail, YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED. SOMETIMES I EVEN DO THEM ON PURPOSE.
Summary: In the three years since the mysterious Moriarty's death in the poolside explosion, John Watson has become a husband, a father, and a widower, all the while still mourning the loss of his friend and flatmate Sherlock Holmes. When Sherlock, very much not dead and very much in trouble, finally finds his way home again, John is forced to decide which he will protect first: his new family, or his old love—or maybe, just maybe, he can find a way to choose both.
Disclaimer: #NotIntendedToBeAFactualStatement
Author's Notes: Saw a prompt at [livejournal.com profile] sherlockbbc_fic that asked for (really abridged version of the prompt due to spoilers) Sherlock's supposed death in TGG leading to John's marriage. That was the spark for this idea, but then it grew into a forest fire that my muse has apparently been feeding gasoline and crude oil. Title taken from the lyrics of "Right Here Waiting For You," which just happens to be the song John chooses to dance to at his wedding.
Chapter Notes: A response to the anons who vociferously voiced their opinions re: the previous chapter can be found here. Even though this story is now finished, that doesn't mean that this 'verse is now complete. There should be much more to follow in the Jenny Watson AU (including a bad!porn!fic that I am totally not linking with the rest of it) as soon as my other RL commitments get finished, as explained here. That being said, a big heartfelt THANK YOU to everyone who's stayed for this entire monster of a fic. Your support and feedback is and always has been greatly appreciated. :)

Chapter Notes: For those who wondered re: Jenny being able to read/write at two years of age, I know that this is possible because that's exactly what happened to me. Not a word out of my mouth until I was two-and-a-half, though when I finally did talk I was apparently using full sentences and compound clauses. Maybe not the most usual occurrence, probably a tad bit on the Asperger spectrum, actually, but it's clearly a possible scenario. :) Also, warning y'all now—if you weren't happy with the way TGG ended, um. You might not want to read this chapter until I've posted the final part. I'm just saying. *shifty*
