Points of Light repostathon: prologue

pennypaperbrainDue to a combination of 404s, bugs and my error, my fic Points of Light got wiped off AO3. I’m pretty distressed by this as it had attracted almost 14k hits. AO3 say they can’t restore it.
So… starting now I’m going to repost the fic chapter by chapter as if it was a WIP going up daily (I hope it’s OK to do this on this comm). Then people who liked it the first time might consider revisiting it and recommenting/kudosing, or of course new readers are more than welcome. The Prologue is back up now.

Prologue Summary: John and Sherlock manage to stay alive until they meet each other – just.
Fic Summary: I like fennishjournal's mini-review better than I like my own original summary, so here it is: 'John and Sherlock are broken but their jagged edges fit together in a way that is almost painfully right. This is intense and powerful and desperate. There is a scene where John tops the fuck out of Sherlock and, dear God, is it ever intense.'
There's BDSM in the mix, so that needs to go in the headers, but it's not the main focus of the fic. It's a relationship study, in which sex is a significant element but far from being the sole theme. It's about needing something right down to the bottom of your soul, and perhaps eventually getting it.
