How Can We Say Forever (5/6)
Title: How Can We Say Forever (5/6)
Author:
queenfanfiction
Fandom: Sherlock BBC
Rating: PG-13
Warnings: Character death (not the one you'd think), some prisoner torture, and dark angsty angst. Also, a lot of run-on sentences. If you wage epic wars on grammar fail, YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED. SOMETIMES I EVEN DO THEM ON PURPOSE.
Summary: In the three years since the mysterious Moriarty's death in the poolside explosion, John Watson has become a husband, a father, and a widower, all the while still mourning the loss of his friend and flatmate Sherlock Holmes. When Sherlock, very much not dead and very much in trouble, finally finds his way home again, John is forced to decide which he will protect first: his new family, or his old love—or maybe, just maybe, he can find a way to choose both.

Author's Notes: Saw a prompt at
sherlockbbc_fic that asked for (really abridged version of the prompt due to spoilers) Sherlock's supposed death in TGG leading to John's marriage. That was the spark for this idea, but then it grew into a forest fire that my muse has apparently been feeding gasoline and crude oil. Title taken from the lyrics of "Right Here Waiting For You," which just happens to be the song John chooses to dance to at his wedding.
Chapter Notes: For those who wondered re: Jenny being able to read/write at two years of age, I know that this is possible because that's exactly what happened to me. Not a word out of my mouth until I was two-and-a-half, though when I finally did talk I was apparently using full sentences and compound clauses. Maybe not the most usual occurrence, probably a tad bit on the Asperger spectrum, actually, but it's clearly a possible scenario. :) Also, warning y'all now—if you weren't happy with the way TGG ended, um. You might not want to read this chapter until I've posted the final part. I'm just saying. *shifty*
