Name: butterflymind Blog/Journal/Site:[Unknown site tag]butterflymind or butterflymind Sample Post: I tend to ramble about my life and science issues like this and nitpick science in TV programmes like this (sorry). Fannish stuff will return when I finish my PhD thesis. Writer/Artist/Vidder/Iconographer/Knitter of Orange Blankets: Writer, potential podficcer when I get some time (I live in a world full of recording equipment and a pet sound engineer, it seems a waste not to). Country: UK Occupation: PhD student (until September 30th) What else are you into? (fannish): Doctor Who, CSI, Merlin and many other things What else are you into? (in the real world): Biochemistry, microscopy, computers, programming, cryptography, music and other geeky pastimes. One awesome thing you did this year: Wrote a PhD thesis (well, nearly). I am a Watsonian/ I am a Doylesian/ I have no idea what you're talking about: Doylesian, unless I've misunderstood the question.
Favorite Character: Sherlock Favorite Character Who is Neither Sherlock nor John: Mycroft, even from the books I always found him fascinating. Favorite Pairing: Sherlock/John Favorite Scene: John returning to the flat after the explosion (The great game) I love the Sherlock/Mycroft interaction. Riding Crop or Service Revolver: Revolver, distance is a good thing. The Beeb's Modern AU - well-done or half-baked?: Despite all my expectations when I first heard about it, very well done. Original Story I'd most like to see adapted: The Speckled band or the Creeping man, partly because I'd just like to see how they deal with the more bonkers aspects of both plots.
Other Adaptations I Enjoy: Jeremy Brett (to my mind, the definitive TV Holmes). Although it doesn't quite count, I also really liked the recent Mitchell and Webb sketch of old Holmes, although I'm not sure sketch shows are supposed to make you cry. Favorite Original Story: Oddly probably 'the adventure of the lion's mane' I think mainly because I like reading Holmes' narration. Favorite Screen Holmes: Jeremy Brett (unsurprisingly) although BC runs him a close second. Best Granada Watson: Edward Hardwicke
My thoughts on yaoi: Are deep and meaningful. My Other Fandoms: Obscure CSI pairings, Doctor Who, Stargate SG-1, Occasional Press gang What I'd like to see happen in this comm: (Book clubs, movie nights, meetups, fic exchanges, weekly prompts, etc. etc. etc.) All of the above. I enjoy prompts and challenges particularly, when I have a bit more free time than I do at the moment.
