Sherlock has to realise that he cannot fully control his subconscious or his emotions.
Chapter summary: There is something morbidly fascinating in contemplating his own grave, not in an abstract fashion but by visiting the actual spot. It is strangely freeing to be thought dead: There are no more expectations to disappoint, no more mistakes to make.

He is about to turn around and start the next leg of his journey when he sees two familiar figures approach the grave hand in hand. WIP.

Summary: It’s the fall of 2000, and to help him out after his military career has ended due to injury, John Watson’s sister Harriet gets him a job as US tour manager for rising star of the industrial scene and enfant terrible, Sherlock Holmes. Sherlock’s not long out of rehab and there are plenty of doubts as to whether he’s serious about recovery. Plus, the music industry is shaking in its boots over the Napster mess. All John has to do is keep the money coming in and make sure his star doesn’t screw things up. After the army, that should be easy, right?

Author's Note: There are a lot of people who've helped with this: thanks to my fantastic betas emmadelosnardos, greywash, ardatli, and miraculousspaceship who have set me straight more times than I can count, already. Any mistakes are mine and not theirs. Also thanks to my Britpicker nichellen, and abundantlyqueer for soooo much military information and patience with my multitude of questions.
I have a lot of work to do to post all the photos (so far) taken of Sherlock locations in central London. This is about half of them, when America catches up the real nightmare begins. I also MIGHT have some from another as yet secret location if all goes to plan for the half term hols. BF garienos is learning that, like John, if he comes with me and is helpful when I do this he gets fed.

This is a small version of the map I am working from at the moment. Click on it for a bigger look, I will do smaller maps as I cover each area with pictures.

This shows how they have 'grouped' their filming sessions around certain areas. I was trying to work out why (1) was around as it was actually S2 (everything else is S1) and then I realised it drops off the bottom of the Barts and [spoiler spoiler] locations used in S2.

S1 was a lot heavier location-wise than S2 (the Blind Banker episode is an ongoing nightmare for me right now). I think the production team got wise to how much work they were involved in and cut things down a little for the second series.

(1) is where Irene texted Merry Christmas to Sherlock in Scandal

(2) is where Sherlock both jumped over the barrier and gave a £50 note to one of his homeless network in the Great Game.

(3) is the body dump actually on the bank of the Thames from The Great Game. Lovely location to visit at Low Tide.

(4) Is the graffiti area under the Hayward Gallery from the Blind Banker

(5) is the Jubilee Bridge also used in that episode

(6) Is Trafalgar Square; ditto

(7) Where a taxi passes through in that episode on the way to the West Kensington Library (not really from the location they used, but ...)

comments

Over the weekend I was in London again getting quite damp, having a fight with the rain to keep my locationing laptop dry, and rather enjoying having the proper weather conditions to experience one specific location. I will report on THAT when those on the other side of the Atlantic have caught up with us in the UK. Until then I will still be playing in Series One Sherlock as there is still so much to do there.

I also caught a couple of extra locations this time, so I have remade the map of Bloomsbury.

(1) Is Speedy's and Gower Street North

(2) Is Russell Square Gardens which I shall be talking about in a moment

(3) Is the old tram tunnel in Kingsway used at the end of The Blind Banker which I came across on my trip this time and hurried over to photograph.

(4) Is another location I specially went hunting for and I can't talk about until (aptly) the Americans join us.

( Today we are dealing with John meeting Mike Stamford )

comments

The below represents my personal experience and impressions of my own local scene only.
Summary: This meta based on my 10 years’ involvement in the London scene. It’s designed to help writers who are including scene elements in their fics, particularly post-A Scandal in Belgravia. It's probably also informative for people with a general interest in the subject outside Sherlock fandom too, so feel free to link.

On my LJ
Also on AO3

This entry isn't tagged because I can't get the tag list to appear for me on dreamwidth! ETA: Now it's tagged, because I can get them when I edit the post, just not when I first post it. Weird.

comments

I thought I might introduce myself to the community by posting a fic - not yet beta-read because I'm so new to the fandom. I hope everyone enjoys!

Title: The Case of the Little Indian
Chapter: 1/15?
Author: trio
Pairings: none at present
Rating: G currently, eventually R
Warnings: angst, eventual graphic descriptions of violence and/or death, spoilers (Hound of Baskerville, Reichenbach Fall)
Disclaimer: Doyle created the original, Moffat and Gatiss created the current. I only wrote the story.
Author's Notes: Please note that I'm very new in this fandom, as well as being a Texan transplanted to Canada. I have no beta or brit-picker, but would really LOVE to have someone who could handle one or both of those jobs. Please feel free to contact me and volunteer if interested, because I'd be happier knowing that this story has been properly edited and shaped into something more appropriate.

Archived on Dreamwidth here & AO3 here

comments
